Make requests ONLY for the volunteer's specified research areas. (Do not ask for out-of-area requests.) Never ask more than one volunteer for the same request. Ask the volunteer what reimbursements they require: copies, gas, parking, etc. Negotiate an estimated completion time ... Remember: volunteers are not "on the clock," may research for multiple people, and respond reasonably as their time permits. The Volunteer table below provides a list of California4 volunteers who will provide research assistance in the specified counties.

Sacramento	Maureen	I am willing to look up anything that is at the Sacramento Public Library. This includes obits in the Sacramento Newspaper. Time is limited, but I will do what I can.
San Diego	Lindsey Handley	I can look up obituaries in the San Diego Union (Oct. 6, 1922 - Feb. 1, 1992) or the Sacramento Bee (1895-1983).
San Francisco Bay Area, Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, and surrounding counties	Jim Heddell	Most anything from searches, photos, look ups, consultation, etc.
San Luis Obispo (southern portion)	Gregory	Services: Birth and death records (San Luis Obispo City south); Tombstone photos (San Luis Obispo City south); Obituaries (county-wide); Specialty look-ups and photos; Reimbursement will be requested for out-pocket expenses (to be estimated and agreed to prior to initiation of research)
Santa Cruz	P Johns	Obit lookups in Watsonville using Register-Pajaronian at the Watsonville Public Library. Please provide date of death. (Leaving the area approx. 01 Aug 2012.)
Solano	John Watson	I lookup Vallejo obituaries, directories, and cemeteries. I do not request reimbursements for any of my services.
Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco Bay Area, and surrounding counties	Jim Heddell	Most anything from searches, photos, look ups, consultation, etc.
Sonoma	Joni	Northern areas; Focus Cities: Healdsburg, Santa Rosa (main county seat) Will search for local obits in The Press Democrat (main county newspaper), and Healdsburg Tribune. Will search for obits if provided with month, day, year and name of individual being searched for. Copies will be mailed to the individual making the request as this area does not have scanning opportunities. Each copy and mailing is reimbursable by sending in $2.00 which will cover copy, mailing and parking expenses. My turn-around time is estimated at 3 weeks as our local Historical Society is open only part-time.
Stanislaus	Nancy Grant	New privacy laws do not allow any birth, death, or marriage look-ups. You may order and pay for offical copies. Try http://www.co.stanislaus.ca.us/ I will still do cemetery and obit. work.
Stanislaus	Minnie Lewis	Will do obit lookup in Turlock newspapers at the Turlock Library. The paper starts from about 1910 to the present. Will check index of Turlock Cemetery for persons buried there and take digital photo if requested. -->
